Divorce mediation can work no matter one's economic status

Couples in Massachusetts and elsewhere that are preparing to go through the divorce process may not feel that mediation is an option for them if they have to figure out high or complex asset division. However, divorce mediation can work for any couple as long as each party is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to negotiate agreeable terms. The divorce of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner is a great example of how mediation can be used by any couple regardless of their economic status.

According to a recent report, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner recently filed their divorce papers after a two-year separation. During their separation, it is said that the couple was working with a mediator to figure out how to split their numerous assets, as well as to create a parenting plan. In their filings, both individuals claim to be representing themselves in this matter; however, this does not mean that they have not turned to legal counsel at times to help them figure out the finer details of their split.

The bulk of a divorce settlement can be figured out during mediation. However, it is still wise to have one's legal counsel review the terms before making anything final. This way, a couple can ensure that the settlement truly serves the best interests of both parties.

There are many benefits to divorce mediation. Some of them being that it generally costs less than litigation, it can take less time, and it helps keep the details of the final settlement private. A divorcing couple, whether in Massachusetts or elsewhere, that desires an amicable split and is ready to put in the work necessary, can combine mediation and legal assistance in order to achieve a fair and balanced dissolution agreement.
